WITCHCRAFT III: THE KISS OF DEATH
(1991)

Now we switch to VHS. This film is currently unavailable on DVD. And now the series does begin to get
stupid and increase nudity, which is not a bad thing. William Churchill who became William Adams in the
second film, taking on his adoptive parent’s name is now William Spanner for some unknown reason.
Charles Solomon is back playing William and we can expect his thick headed oafish performances as
well. This movie starts to stray from being a true sequel to being an independent supernatural piece
including the character of William. The Stocton mythology is barely touched upon and the focus now is
on a new villain. Feels like an episode of Supernatural or Angel only worse quality and much stupider.

William Spanner is now a sophisticated attorney with a nice house, a beautiful girlfriend, and plenty of
money to spend on booze or anything else to keep his mind away from his Satanic past. None of his
past is really his fault anyway, and he never even met his birth parents, all he has are stories, so what’s
he bitching about. I’m excluding the incidents from the second film just like the writer did. We first meet
the seductive demon Louis at a nightclub. He bestows the “kiss of death” on his victims. This means he
sucks a girls face, (His face flares up and his eyes turn either red or yellow depending on nothing
really)  extracting her life essence and leaving her lifeless corpse on the ground. God only knows how
long he’s been going around doing this. He then transmits some life to his girlfriend Roxy in similar
fashion. What Louis does is make a woman dependant on him by leaving a glowing mark on her chest.
Then the helpless girl cannot survive without the essence of other victims Louis extracts from. This
makes no sense to anyone so don’t even start to rationalize it. The closest I got was that he played the
role of the controlling drug dealer and his customers whom rely on his product. But Louis is not getting
paid anything for keeping this bitch alive. And the only thing that the enslaved Roxy does is ask for more
essence and complain. (They have sex too)  I must stop myself here because I don’t even think the
writer (Jerry Daly) got this far.

Through a contact from one of his cases William meets the wise Haitian holy man Rev. Jondular. He will
console and help Will destroy Louis in the end. There is an argument at a bar (which isn’t important)
where William meets Louis for the first time and they become friends. He spurs William (while drunk)  to
confront this female prosecutor he dislikes and what ends up happening is her murder and William is
caught in the middle of it. From here on out Louis appears to Will’s girlfriend Charlotte several times. He
tries to seduce her either to give her the “kiss of death” or enslave her like Roxy. One time William even
finds him laying his hands on her inside his own house. Rev. Jondular tells William to use his warlock
powers to protect his girlfriend from harm and destroy Louis. The holy man has this cool staff that Will
uses to see into the demonic mind of Louis. William is haunted by a dream of Louis and Charlotte having
sex in the shower. When he wakes up Louis is inside his house again. He knocks William unconscious.
These witches or demon types seem to appear and disappear anywhere they like. When William comes
to, he goes to see Rev. Jondular, but it’s too late. He’s dead but a friend of his gives him the holy man’s
staff. Now William can kick some demon ass. Don’t expect much because the fighting and wrestling
scenes are uncoordinated and clumsy. I’m getting ahead of myself.

When Charlotte goes upstairs to bed she sees Louis and Roxy having wild sex on her fucking bed.
Louis, you crazy son of a bitch. He gives Roxy the kiss of death and starts putting the moves on William’
s girl. She resists so he forces himself on her (exposing her large boobs) and brands her with the
glowing mark on her chest. William finally arrives and fights with Louis. He knocks him several times with
the head of the staff. Charlotte has passed out and maybe even died but Will gives her the kiss of life
and everything seems to be ok again. William tells Charlotte that he can now rest easy knowing that his
strength doesn’t come from evil but from the goodness in his heart. When they go outdoors to bury Roxy
and Louis, Louis crawls out of the ground for one last attack. William snaps the rod and stabs him with
the sharp end. Now we can all rest easy.

William is a loser, the total opposite of a bad ass. When he catches his girlfriend with Louis in his house
he lazily escorts him out. His girlfriend of four years that he lives with. Come on, punch the guy or
something. So this sequel tells us that the witches are no longer after William. Louis was just a demonic
drifter. Maybe one can say that Williams unique soul attracts evil influences into his life where he must
learn to use whatever power he has to fix things. He might not ever have a normal life, free from evil
forces. I leave the saga now in the competent hands of Jose, who will review for us the next three films.
Good luck!
