This is the last installment in the Friedman, Lewis  Blood Trilogy. Written and directed by H.G. Lewis, the
gore and plot here begin to slow into boredom.  I believe both Lewis and Friedman had worked on nudie
pictures in the past and it pissed me off that none of The Blood Trilogy films contain even a hint of
nudity. The thing is that “COLOR ME BLOOD RED” was so tame, slow, and not shocking at all. Even a
shot of breasts would have spruced it up a bit. I can’t believe I’m complaining about this. I figured that if
the gore here didn’t deliver something else had to.

Adam Sorg is an out of his mind painter with anger problems. Since we first meet him all he can do is
complain about how his work stinks and abuse his loving girlfriend verbally. He treats her as shit while all
she could talk about is how she wants to marry him. What a couple we have here ! They live on a nice
beach house apart from the main beaches. Gordon Oas-Heim plays Sorg convincingly. I honestly can’t
figure out why Sorg is so bitter all the time. Oh, and he sporadically shouts to make himself heard
wherever he’s at. I don’t think that the great acting by several  cast members is enough to cover up this
weak as shit gore film. This truly is a bad movie. Yet something tells me that it has merit. I have never
seen this type of slow, dragging light gore fare. It’s a unique film but still a bad  film.

Soon enough Sorg discovers that he likes to paint with blood instead of red paint. And wouldn’t you
believe it that the work he does in blood wins him great acclaim. If your smart you will soon figure out
that since they don’t sell human blood in stores and Sorg insists on human blood  (he should have tried
animal blood to see if it would work as well.) then he must have to kill humans ! He first kills his dumb
girlfriend and two more people I think. Unlike “BLOOD FEAST” there are no cops on his tail so we are
spared that subplot, which I think in this case might have even helped the story.

As the third act arrives we have four goofy teenagers wandering into the deserted beach by the mad
painters house. We are tortured by scenes of playful, innocent 60’s teen frolic complete with
marshmallow and weenie roast. In one scene a couple are alone apart from the group and the guy asks
his girl to remove her top and she says no and changes the subject. H. G. Lewis, if you can hear me :
why torture us with mild gore and no breasts ???  So you have a psychotic painter seeking out blood for
his ghoulish works of art and four dumb teenagers wandering into his territory. Let me just tell you now
there is no blood massacre, all the naive teenagers live and one manages to shoot Sorg dead. That’s it,
there is no spoiler warning because I did not spoil your evening , I saved it so you could watch
something else. And if you still want to see this…God speed , enjoy !!!
