    RAISING KANE...HODDER THAT IS

    StrictlySplatter.com fans know Kane Hodder, or they should. He's brought life to Jason Vorhees four times since the amazing part 7 to
    the not bad Jason X. He's also portrayed the mutant killer Victor Crowley in Adam Green's indie hit Hatchet, among a number of other
    outstanding roles and stunt work. We grabbed some time with Kane during the press tour for his new film BTK and asked him all the
    Jason questions we could think of.

    JOSE PRENDES: Kane, buddy, thanks for spending some time with StrictlySplatter.com. Why don't we begin with how you got into the
    film business?

    KANE HODDER: I just decided I wanted to try and do it, to get into stunts, and went to LA to see what the process would be and got
    bitten by the bug and didn't end up going back to school where I had been going. I decided to starve for 8 years to get into the business
    and eventually it worked. You know, with stunts it's always a very long process of paying your dues because nobody knows you and
    they're not going to hire you to do something dangerous if they don't know you. So it's not like you can audition and then happen to
    catch a director's eye in the part and become huge while you wait. It just doesn't happen that way with stunts.  

    JOSE: Do you have a favorite Jason movie?

    KANE: Uhh, yeah, I guess it's not surprisingly one of the ones I did, but I think part 7 was the most enjoyable. As far as the look of Jason,
    that was the best. It was kind of interesting because so much more happened to Jason that time than just the victims. But I also haven't
    seen the latest one, so I don't know.

    JOSE: Do you have a favorite Jason kill? This might be a harder one.

    KANE: No, that's not hard at all. I was even going to have a shirt printed with my top 5 favorite kills that I performed as Jason. But there
    is no question that the sleeping bag is my favorite kill [appearing in Friday the 13th VII: The New Blood]. I think it's probably the best kill
    Jason ever did, really, just because it was such an innocuous weapon. How do you kill somebody with a sleeping bag? That's how! I also
    like the frozen head in Jason X, or punching V.C. Dupree's head off in part 8. Those are also my favorites. Right up there with those
    Jason kills is ripping the lady's head apart in Hatchet. That's a classic Jason-type kill.

    JOSE: This is probably a silly question, but would you return to fill Jason's shoes?

    KANE: Oh, you know I would, that's not a silly question at all. I would do it in a second. Even though I think I got kind of slighted when
    they first replaced me because I was never given a reason for it, I would still come back. Definitely.

    JOSE: So, you've mentioned before that you are a real horror fan so do you have a favorite horror film?

    KANE: Yes, I do, it's The Exorcist. I've liked a lot of other horror movies, too many to mention, but the one that stands out to me is that
    one, because I'm old enough to have seen it in the theaters. Just barely old enough to have seen it in the theaters, and at that time that
    subject matter was so taboo and to have a scary fucking movie like that out in 1974 that was something people wouldn't even talk about,
    made it the most overpowering, scary movie that could ever happen. You'd never get that type of reaction from an audience anymore
    where they're just absolutely horrified at what they're seeing. It's totally different when you see it 10 years later on DVD or something.
    But if you were old enough to see it in the theater with all the hype that went along with it, then you appreciate that movie. I think it still
    holds up, even now.

    JOSE: Definitely, that's one of my favorites, too. But you've been in your share of classic horror films and have worked with a bunch of
    great directors. Who would be your favorite horror director, or is there someone who's work has impressed you that you want to work
    with?

    KANE: Well, Adam [Green], John Carl Buechler, Richard Friedman, and Mike Feifer are all my favorite guys to work with that I have in
    the past and actually I wouldn't mind doing a movie with Rob Hall, because I think he did a good job with that movie he just finished [Laid
    to Rest, you can watch the video review of that film on our YouTube page]. I think he's a pretty talented guy, and I know him and have
    worked with him before, but not as a director so that might be cool.

    JOSE: Well, Rob if you're reading this, Kane is willing to play Chrome Skull in Laid to Rest 2 if that ever happens. Kane thanks so much,
    man. I appreciated the time.
